About Jemaja
My Story ... so far
I’ve been writing since before I could spell.
My mum has a collection of my first books. I stuck them together with glue and staples; the words are a jumble, but the illustrations translate a tale about faeries.
I’ve always found comfort in words … the impact and power they hold, how pouring them onto a page can express more than I could speak.
I started writing songs in primary school, which evolved into short stories. As all stories do, they took on a life of their own, eventually becoming novel-length ideas. I started writing my debut novel, Till the End of Time, when I was fifteen years old and published it five years later.
Writing is my happy place…
My comfort … my way of making sense of the world and my self.
Having grown up on an eighty-acre property in Australia, I let my imagination wander while running through the forests of my childhood home. This is where I found true connection with nature and the magic entwined in the small moments of life. Having experienced loss at a young age, I often explore grief within my writing to encourage open conversations.
Within my stories, I explore the unseen threads that run throughout everyday life – intuition, energy, and the deeper connections that often go unspoken, reflecting my lifelong appreciation for these quiet, intuitive and spiritual ways of understanding the world.
With my Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Industries now complete, I’m actively pursuing the things that set my soul on fire. When I’m not writing (or doing the hundred other things involved in being an author), I’m working on my craft and stationery business, Sunshine Reflections, or working as a Publishing Assistant, helping other writers achieve their publishing dreams.
